Through art we can draw ourselves into worlds we wish to inhabit. Over a year ago, I attended two small music shows at which I made several sketches. Months later, during a period of loneliness, these experiences and their attendant drawings became anchors. They generated vibrant paintings which were markedly different from my other work. Throughout the year, I found more moments, more images. I was making work I wanted to live in. The show title, Yes, is from an unassuming poster which was on stage at one of the music shows. Yes to the moment, yes to our lives.
